[edit] Blurb
In the movie Surrogates, humans no longer live their own lives but rather they live vicariously through their genetically linked robotic surrogate. Surrogates allow you to be whoever you want, and do whatever you want without the risk of injury or disease, and from the comfort of your own home.
The movie begins with the murder of a human through the destruction of his surrogate - something which had previously been deemed impossible. Tom Greer (Bruce Willis) investigates and begins to encounter the mysteries and realities behind the surrogates.
[edit] View from Nowhere
An interesting movie from a Buddhist perspective. In the film, most of mankind has become identified with robot surrogates, thus losing their "humanity". But isn't this already the human condition as Buddhism teaches us? We, each of us, are identified with an illusory body which we refer to as our "physical body", conceived of as a wetware machine. We no longer remember our real body, our Buddha mind.
