Spiritual Films, perhaps not particularly Buddhist Dharma
From DharmaflixWiki
'One of Master Gasan's monks visited the university in Tokyo. When he returned, he asked the master if he had ever read the Christian Bible. "No," Gasan replied, "Please read some of it to me." The monk opened the Bible to the Sermon on the Mount in St. Matthew, and began reading. After reading Christ's words about the lilies in the field, he paused. Master Gasan was silent for a long time. "Yes," he finally said, "Whoever uttered these words is an enlightened being. What you have read to me is the essence of everything I have been trying to teach you here!"'(Quote)
Here go the films that have spiritual themes, but not particularly Buddhist dharma themes. Buddhism, as the Dalai Lama has pointed out, is not really a religion. It is not clear exactly what the best way to define it in terms of conventional concepts might be. Perhaps we, especially in the West, don't really have a linguistic framework for it. Buddhism, Enlightenment-ism, is an alien concept pointing to something even more alien for a humanity alienated from itself. That is why, perhaps, Buddhist Dharma can help inform religions, philosophies, especially ancient, science fiction, and other human thought constructions. So here go the films that relate to or are in the region of Buddhist Dharma, that are spiritual, religious, mystical, existential, magical, paranormal, altered states, or on healing. Perhaps they are films that explicitly reject the Dharma in one way or another, but you feel still need to be considered. Or perhaps they just have that amazing ability to open the mind and inspire awe (ah).
