Decided yesterday we would see the latest Will Smith flick out on video, Seven Pounds. I'm not a movie critic by any stretch of even my imagination, but this was a great film.
You don't really begin to put the pieces together until later in the show, and the beginning really makes you think "Do I want to see this movie?" but in the end this is a powerful film about how one man repaid many times as he suffered from something caused by a single moment of not being mindful.
From a Buddhist perspective this is a tale of a man, beset with some life altering karmic events, who through his own efforts, and some assistance from lifelong friends, goes about doing what he feels must be done to deal with his suffering and accumulate positive Karma.
This is not a usual Hollywood flogging or thoughtless cinematic attempt at a thought provoking film, but a solid story about one man and his absolute intent to correct suffering of others by his direct actions.
If you haven't seen this movie, grab the DVD, popcorn, and your loved ones for a great viewing of a thought provoking film.[1]
