[edit] Blurb

Critics seemed to uniformly dislike this film. It makes me wonder if they doth protest too much considering the actual message of the film. Apparently to them it is another gangster/casino film, with "metaphysical" pretensions. But, it is a story about the ego, its recognition, and the ensuing "internal" struggle of the protagonist to dis-identify with his ego and the projections of his ego. The portrayal of this struggle, almost as if the protagonist is battling with Mara himself, points to a struggle all practitioners will have to deal with. (See the clip above) This identification is the greatest con of all... for one believes one is the con-man himself.

The only problem with this film is its high levels of violence. There is some suggestion of the illusory nature of all, including the violence, with the use of animation, but most practitioners will find the violence an obstacle to appreciating the dharma message carried in the film. Forewarned may not be forearmed.
