Tum, a young Buddhist monk in Thailand learns of his sister’s death by Muslim insurgents in southern Thailand. He decides to leave his monastery in order to sort out his sister’s affairs. He must then decide what kind of role he will take in his niece's life, as well as his sister’s business. Through all of this, Tum must also adjust to life outside the monastery - a place where he had lived since childhood - and come to terms with his rage over his sister's death.
