In The Emerald Forest an engineer, Bill Markham, moves to Brazil with his wife and young son. He is employed to work on a dam that will destroy a large part of the Brazilian rain forest. When his family takes a picnic on the edge of the forest, an indigenous tribesman notices the young boy’s emerald eyes and decides to abduct him.
The story moves ahead to ten years later, and the boy is now completely integrated into the tribe. The dam his father has built is threatening his adopted way of life, and the engineer must now decide what to do.
