The movie opens up in heaven in the very white offices of Chief Angel Gabriel. The offices have all the modern conveniences of the 1940's and no Microsoft computers anywhere. The demise of marital relationships on earth is causing God great concern. The angels need to do a better job of matchmaking. It seems that marriages are really made in heaven. Gabriel assigns two angels (Jackson and O'Reilly) to bring together a couple, Robert and Celine, in holy matrimony. The problem is that Robert has kidnapped Celine, the very person that God has intended for him. The angels are sent to do this impossible task by Gabriel, whose boss, God, cannot accept any more failed relationships.[1]
